Detroit & Mackinac Railway Co
The Detroit & Mackinac was incorporated in December of 1894, and was made up of many small railroads.
In April of 1979 they purchased 72 miles of former Penn Central track from Mackinaw city to Sallings,
also the State of Michigan designated D&M as the operator of ex Penn Central tracks from
Linwood to Sallings. Service to Mackinaw City ended in 1990.
Feb. 17,1992, D&M was sold to the Huron Acquisition Co and became Lake State Railway.
